چکیده

G ;. . _ . The working group explored the feasibility of building a trigger and an electronics and data acquisition system for both collider and fixed target experiments. There appears to be no fundamental technical limitation arising from either the rate or the amount of data for a collider experiment. The fixed target experiments will likely require a much higher rate because of the smaller cross section. Rates up to one event per RF bucket (50 MHz) appear to be feasible. Higher rates depend on the details of the particular experiment and trigger. Several ideas were presented on multiplicity jump and impact parameter triggers for fixed target experiments.

First test of a prototype CBM silicon detector system in a proton beam at GSI

In September 2008, the CBM collaboration performed the first essential test of two prototype detector systems in a 2.5 GeV proton beam at GSI. The experiment at the HTD beam line in Cave C comprised prototype micro-strip detectors of the Silicon Tracking System, and gas-electronmultiplier (GEM) detectors. The detectors were coupled to a self-triggering front-end electronics and data acquisition...

Electronics and Photonics for High Energy Physics Experiments

The paper presents a debate over objective conditions connected with high energy physics (hep) experiments. Some consequences stem from these conditions concerning requirements for electronic apparatus and its structure. Systematic characteristics of electronic systems for such experiments were included. The following layers of electronics are distinguished: detector electronics, triggering ele...

The Cathode Strip Chamber Data Acquisition System for CMS

The Cathode Strip Chamber (CSC) [1] Data Acquisition (DAQ) system for the CMS [2] experiment at the LHC [3] will be described. The CSC system is large, consisting of 218K cathode channels and 183K anode channels. This leads to a substantial data rate of ~1.5GByte/s at LHC design luminosity (10cms) and the CMS first level trigger (L1A) rate of 100KHz. The DAQ system consists of three parts. The ...

A Serializer ASIC at 5 Gbps for Detector Front-end Electronics Readout

Optical data links are used in detector front-end electronics readout systems of experiments in the Tevatron and the LHC. Optical links in high energy particle physics experiments usually have special requirements such as radiation tolerance, ultra high reliability and low power dissipation. These requirements are often not met by commercial components which are designed for applications in non...

Developing and Commissioning Babar Electronics

Many aspects of the architecture and performance requirements of the electronics system for the BABAR Experiment are similar to those for the much larger LHC experiments. We briefly describe the requirements and architecture of BABAR Electronics, focusing on aspects that are similar to the LHC. We then discuss the experience of developing the system from design to operation, including such topi...
